Factory Reset Help
Hello, I'm new to this so please bear with me........I have been trying to update the firmware on my ReadyNAS Duo V2 from 5.3.7 to 5.3.8. I have tried to update it using the Dashboard but this did not...

Did you define a static IP address when you originally set it up? That would explain why you cannot connect on a different network.
A factory reset will destroy your data, so you should certainly do a backup first. Your work-around in 2a will not work.
You can probably get the duo to work on your current network by doing an OS reinstall from the front panel (not a reset). This will change the IP address to use DHCP and will also reset the admin password to "password". No data is lost (though it is always best to have a backup).
Alternatively, bring the NAS back home, and check that it runs ok on your home network.
