Factory Reset Help

Thanks for the help so far. The support technician sent me another email yesterday saying that I should do a OS reinstall rather than a factory reset. So thank you for all of your information and I'm glad I waited and asked the forum for help otherwise my data would be gone now!
I'm going to try the OS reinstall later today and I'll let you know how I get on. But one more question I have is if I cannot get in to access the data whilst doing a OS reinstall will it be advisable to remove one of the drives before I do the reinstall in case it wipes my data? Will this help?
