Final 6.2.1 update causing LAN instability/sluggishness
After upgrading to 6.2.1 on an RN314, the network adapters no longer appear in the UI. In general it looks like the network parameters were reset. I can only recover the device by letting my router assign an IP with DHCP. Any ideas on how to get the network adapters in the UI? or even control them from the command line?
thanks

- vandermerweMasterSo you can login to the GUI and see all the other tabs (System, Shares, iSCSI, etc) except the Network tab?
Or can you see the network tab but the adapters are not seen when you click on it?
Have you cleared your browser cache ?
If they are really not there then I'd do an OS reinstall ( not a factory default) using the boot menu. The OS reinstall preserves data, resets the admin password and the network settings to dhcp. - rugeneGuideI login to the gui and can see the network tab. No adapters show up however. After a reboot the unit is not saving the last IP and displays on the front panel "no IP address". I am also seeing some odd behavior on my network - I think its due to the RN314. I've had to disconnect it for now. ugh.
- _frantic_AspirantI did the update on my 312.
Things went very bad: when the device is connected to the network, it seems to flood my router. All traffic over the router breaks down. The router got hung up. Have never seen this behavior, I had to power cycle the router.
OS reinstall did not help.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD - nsneVirtuosoI'm seeing the same behavior. Everything was fine with RC3. The final 6.2.1 update wreaked havoc on my network. Switching on the 314 kills my router within seconds.
Like rugene, I can't see the network adapter under the "Network" tab, either. Looks like this is not an isolated issue. - vandermerweMasterrugene, try an OS reinstall.
_frantic_ and nsne, have you got any port forwarding setup on your router to the nas, any apps installed? - nsneVirtuosoI disabled all port forwarding about a month ago when I ran into other issues with the NAS. The only apps I have installed are AV+, Plex, BT Sync and UE Media Server.
Oh, and I just downgraded to RC3. The router sprang back to life and the "eth0" link is back under the Network tab. - vandermerweMasternsne, I would try removing all the apps, rebooting, then reinstalling 6.2.1.
- nsneVirtuoso@vandermerwe: Thanks for the tip. Not to sound ungrateful, but I don't have several days each month to devote to app/OS installs to troubleshoot my 314.
If RC3 works fine and the final 6.2.1 doesn't, then it seems to me some minor change between the releases is not working the way it was intended for a variety of users, and this should be addressed by the OS devs. For now I'll stick with RC3 and endure the update notifications (which I can't seem to toggle on/off) every time I log in to the Web UI. - vandermerweMasterFair enough.
As far as I know there are currently 3 of you with this problem. We don't know what apps the other 2 have installed.
I have a 316 and 6.2.1 works perfectly. I don't have apps except LMS though.
Apps do cause problems, so it is by no means clear that this problem is related to a flaw in the OS. - nsneVirtuosoI am creating a dedicated thread for this issue as an offshoot of this one: viewtopic.php?f=65&t=79099
I installed all RCs (1 to 3) for 6.2.1 and did not have any problems. Last night I upgraded to the final 6.2.1 release and almost immediately began experiencing local network instability and sluggishness. The router became inaccessible through its web UI, other devices on the LAN were unable to connect to the WAN, and the router had to be physically rebooted. There was more of the same this morning after the ReadyNAS automatically powered on.
Also, the links (e.g., "eth0") did not display under Network tab in 6.2.1 final.
Downgrading to RC3 restored performance. The router immediately became accessible (without rebooting) and the links showed under the Network tab. It seems as though a minor change between 6.2.1 RC3 and final might be causing this network issue, but I can't spot the discrepancy in the RC3 changelog versus the final release notes.
