Folder Access to NAS
I have managed to set up my NAS fine, and it has been working brilliantly. I have set up my admin and primary user password but not added any other people's accounts. I have the ReadyNAS RN104 and ru...

The icon you see is created by ReadyDLNA and gives access to the Pictures, Music, and Videos shares. Since DLNA is a streaming service, it does not have user name or password protection. I don't recall seeing anything in the Netgear documentation pointing that out, but it's not their choice, it's inherent in the protocol. I personally think that DLNA should have parental controls capability, which you could use to keep eveyone else out, but it doesn't.
If you don't use DLNA on any devices, just disable the DLNA service in System/Settings. If you do, then you will need to use care as to what you put in those folders.

Hi Sandshark,
Thanks for replying. The thing is, when I open it, it does have those 3 folders, Music, Videos and Pictures, but it also shows "Browse Folders" which then accesses ALL of my shares, even those password protected.
That being said, I removed ReadyDNLA from the services settings and that seems to have removed it. Thank you so much, I tried so many search strings but nothing would come up with what I needed and, being fairly new to the world of NAS systems, I didn't know about DNLA or Netgears variant.
Thanks
