Folder browsing via Humax Freeview and null folders?

Hi.

I lave a laptop, a Readynas Duo and A Humax Freeview HD-Fox T2 box. The freeview and readynas are connected via ethernet, the laptop connects to the readynas wirelessly.

When I browse the folders on the readynas with my laptop all files and folders are displayed correctly. When I browse the folders via the humax freeview box, some folders aren't displayed at all, some folders are displaying files that I have deleted and there are lots of folders called 'null'.

I have tried rebooting the readynas, resyncing the volumes, volume scan, fix quotas ... nothing I can see will resolve the problem.

Really need your help!

  • Hi

I had similar issues with the Humax HDR-FOX T2 and a ReadyNAS Duo: on the rare occasions when the Humax could actually see the ReadyDLNA server, both folders and content were missing. I had lots of other random issues with it too but I will not bore you with them here. I will simply state that the Humax and the ReadyNAS did not seem to be getting on very well.

After several hours of trawling the interweb for a solution, it appears that the problem is with the ReadyNAS rather than the Humax. Specifically, the ReadyDLNA server software on the ReadyNAS isn't quite up to scratch, meaning the Humax can't talk to it properly.

To fix the problem, disable ReadyDLNA (untick the box and then save) on the ReadyNAS (via Front View) and replace it with Twonky Media Server on the ReadyNAS (again via Front View). I did this last night and it has transformed by experience of the Humax. I now have access to tens of thousands of photos and videos on my telly, all at the click of a button on the remote. It's ace.

Download the Twonky Add-On from here:

The Twonky Add-On comes with a free 30-day trial licence. If you want to carry on using it after the trial period then you have to buy a licence for approx £15. I bought the licence within 10 minutes of installing it :-)
