Does your Duo say "ReadyNAS Duo" on the front panel?
Or does it instead say "ReadyNAS Duo v2"?

It says ReadyNAS DUO, the sticker on the back says Readynas DUO RND 2120 V2

So you have the original Duo (using a sparc processor, and running 4.1.x firmware).

Netgear should have done a better job with branding, but that ship sailed back in 2011.
The sticker means you have hardware revision 2 of the original Duo (not the Duo v2 which uses an ARM processor and runs 5.3.x firmware).

As Sandshark says, the TLS issue blocks web admin access (Frontview), not file transfer.
One workaround is to use FireFox as the browser and set security.tls.version.min to 1 (browse to about:config and search for the setting).
Once you have access, you can also modify a script on the NAS which will let you access Frontview using unencrypted HTTP in any browser. There is a step-by-step here:

This requires the SMB 1 client to be enabled. On windows, go into "turn windows features on or off" to enable it.
There is no way to enable this on a Mac, so you'd need to enable AFP as a sharing protocol. Though Apple is planning to remove AFP, so this will be a problem going forward. You could also try NFS.
Another path is to use FTP - there are several clients that work, including WinSCP (Windows only) and FileZilla (Windows and Mac). Not fully integrated into the OS, but transfers are possible.
You are using a very old NAS (discontinued 14 years ago), so at some point you will need to switch to something current.

TLS should not affect your ability to access files, except via HTTPS. Normal access via SMB is affected by SMB1 being all the NAS offers. So which is it you are trying to solve? Inability to access files (SMB issue), or inability to access Frontview (TLS issue)?

I resolved the TLS issue by connecting with Firefox. Its accessing the box on Windows to upload and move files.
Thanks

SMB is the more common way, letting you access the files in File Explorer

Thank you everyone, I managed to download the SSH and install it but when I try to connect using CMD in windows get this error
C:\>ssh root@xxx.xxx.x.xxx

Sorted SSH withj putty.

Making progress. SSH is installed and I can connect to it with putty.
I cant find a way of uploading the conf virtual file as internet explorer shows NAS but goes to the HTTPS address and file zill cannot connect. The password is correct as I use it in firefox.

Do you mean Windows file explorer? Try entering \\192.168.8.238 in the address bar (using \\, NOT //).
You can also try opening CMD and then entering
net use * /d /y
net use z: \\192.168.8.238\c /user:admin nas-admin-password
The two different slash directions matter, so be very careful on the typing. Use the actual NAS password of course.
As noted above, the SMB 1 client on the PC has to be enabled for this to work. Also, the NAS admin password can't be the factory default of netgear1.
Ignore any warning on the first command. If both commands are successful, you will mount the full data volume as drive letter Z on the PC.

Is FTP enabled for any share on the NAS?
What FTP client are you using?

Thank you everyone for your help.
I can now connect with any browser and brings up admin panel.
StephenB Thank you for the above instructions, worked a treat and was able to browse with the IP address and able to mount as well.
I am using filezilla,
Protocol: FTP
Encryption: Only use passive
Transfer setting:Passive
I have checked password and it is correct.

Yes, but did you enable FTP for any of the shares in Frontview?
