So I got my first Mac today (Retina MBP), and I'm trying to connect to my ReadyNAS, where all my media, docs, etc. are stored.I enabled the NAS for Time Machine, and I got it to backup without a problem.But when I go into Finder, under shared on the left, I see my NAS listed, but when I click on it, it is unable to connect. When I try clicking the button for Connection Settings, nothing pops up.I'm able to connect if I do a smb://NAS/<share> but I still can't just click on my NAS in finder and see all my shares.Any idea what I need to do?

RAIDiator 4.1.8I actually did get the NASNAME (AFP) to show up when I enabled advertise over Bonjour (is this what I need and not AppleTalk) and enabled AFP on some of the shares (I just didn't want it listed twice in finder :) ).Why isn't CIFS showing up in Finder? I have this enabled on each share and that's how I connect via my Windows boxes. Do I have to do something else?

That is very odd. Did you setup Time Machine following these instructions?: http://www.readynas.com/TimeMachine

Yep, all I did was enable time machine on the readynas and gave it 500 GB. With the MBP, I had no problem doing the backup. When enabling it on the ReadyNas it automatically enabled the AFP protocol, but didn't turn it on for any of the shares or turn on either of the advertising services (Bonjour, AppleTalk).

What version of RAIDiator?

You should see different options show up e.g.
NASNAME
NASNAME (CIFS)
NASNAME (AFP)

The last two of these three are the ones you need to use to connect. The first one is for Time Machine (when Time Machine support is enabled).

Any idea why CIFS wouldn't be showing up? Any reason to use on over the other?

CIFS should show up when you have Bonjour enabled. Does it still not show up?

Last night when I turned it on, all I remember seeing in Finder was:

NAS1
NAS1 (AFP)

I don't have remote access to my MBP setup yet, so I can't play with it now, I'll give it another try this evening.

You could try toggling Bonjour off then on again. When Time Machine is turned on there should be three entries for the NAS showing in Finder not two.

Is there a reason to use one of the protocols over another?

And a little off topic, but since you've been so helpful, is there a way to not show other Shared items in finder (ie. my printer that shows up)
