How do I get full 2.0GB Volume size on SPARC Based ReadyNAS Duo?
I recently added a second 2.0GB drive to my ReadyNAS Duo hoping to get to the max spec for the SPARC based Duo. When the sync was complete the volume indicated 1.3GB. I have read that RAID-X has a max of 1.3GB with 2.0GB drives and RAID-1 would indicate 1.8GB for 2.0GB drives. How do I change from RAID-X to RAID-1 in the ReadyNAS Frontview?
X-RAID should automatically expand.
If you use disk spin-down you should disable that. You should also make sure that the "Disable Journaling" option is not checked. If you need to make changes to those settings. After applying them reboot the NAS again.

Have you tried a reboot?
1.3 is what you would expect with 2x1.5TB drives.

i believe he meant gb instead of tb

2 GB is about half the capacity of a DVD or about 3 CDs worth of data. So 2TB drives would be what was meant.

I have previously shutdown the NAS using on/off button, but not shutdown and reboot from Frontview with volume scan checked. After this is completed, I got a log message that the first stage has been completed and sync was in progress, and shutdown was required to complete volume expansion. I initiated shutdown with reboot from Frontview a second time. The volume now indicates the proper size. Thank you for your suggestion. I did not realize the differences in terminology.
- pjz28ssAspirantNo success with reboot. I have read that, with two 2GB drives in Raid1, I should expect 1.8GB total. With a RaidX setting, I should expect 1.3GB. I am getting 1.3, but would like to set volume to Raid1 to get 1.8 GB. I do not see the option to change Raid setting. If I removed drive and started rebuild again will I have option to set Raid1?
