How to add local folders to backup job Mac
Im having trouble to understand and find the correct option when im going to create a backup job on my local computer.
E.g If i want to backup selected folders under drive D:
What backup source do i need to choose from the dropdown menu, and what if the path list doesnt show my desired folders?
How about backup destination, whats host?
Would be allot easier to understand if it were as simple as a "normal" hd "this folder, to that folder"
Im not computer geek and i only know what i want to backup
System:
Imac 27 2011, OSX 10.8.2
NAS Ready NAS NV+ connected with eth cable on my wireless router, 4 disks, one timemachine occupies 1, or is it two of them?
I want a a raid that means if one disk fail, i can just pull it out and replace it with a new, and let the system take care of the reassembling, possible?

- daytonabeachAspirantWhat a great forum, with nobody in it, LOL
- kossbossGuideWhen you get in to the backup menu, The best notation for the PATH part is listed in the "Help" for that page. It varies from job to job. But usually you do it like this:
HOST: Ip or hostname
PATH: SHARE/PATH1/PATH2
What are you backing up? And where are you backing to? - daytonabeachAspirantIm backing up folder "x" on my second internal hd, to my raid in a folder with the same name, and want to repeat that with other desired folders later.
When i select source i have the option "volume C" but not "D" which is the one hd i want to backup from, how do i acces or add folders from that disk?
Selecting destination, i guess its the "select this readynas or remote" option? If so, i dont get any option to choose the spesific path... - daytonabeachAspirant???
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDo you have an NV+ or an NV+ V2? (easy way to answer is to post the firmware version your NAS is running).
- daytonabeachAspirantThis enough?
Model: ReadyNAS NV+ [X-RAID]
Serial: 23J5197500
Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.10 [1.00a043]
Memory: 256 MB [2.5-3-3-7]
Label on the bottom also says:
RND4000 v3 - ReadySECUREApprenticeSince you're using a mac, you'll need to enable samba sharing from System Preferences and go to Sharing. After enabling samba, you'll be able to use CIFS/Samba to pull data from the device. It says Windows/NAS (Timestamp), even though you're on a mac. Then the host will be your IP address for your Mac, and the path will be the share name you created. XRAID automatically allows for you to lose 1 disk and have it rebuild itself.
- daytonabeachAspirantDoing so, and testing connection, i get "error connecting to 192." etc and im not able to browse path...
- daytonabeachAspirantHello???
- daytonabeachAspirantVery well, not recomended for Mac users unless youre a computer geek then...
