Kernal Panic-tried almost everything

Long story short I have an old NV+ that I have been trying to get working again. I have tried all of the following and can't seem to get it working. Any have any other ideas.

I have reset factory defaults, after this it actually started back up and raidar found it, but once I clicked format the Kernel panic tripped
Completed Memory check, memory OK.
I have tried installing new FW, and it showed success, but after reboot it still comes up with a kernel panic.

Anyone have any other ideas? I am not worried about data loss, I would just like to get it working again.

  • Did you know about any disk errors before this happened?
Can you power off and test each disk using vendor tools?
Have you tried just getting it going with a known good disk that has had any partitions deleted using a PC?
  • Yes, I believe what started all this when I gave up last time was sudden loss of multiple disks. So I replaced the disks and when problems started. I have not yet tried a single disk, I will give that a shot.
  • So with just one HD in it, it says Bad Firmware, I have tried doing another USB boot with firmware with a single HD in place, and it still has the problem. Still working on checking the HD's outside of the NAS.
  • Did you try a factory default with a single disk in - you need to make sure it is a known good disk?
What happens when you do this?
  • I had the very same issue. I replaced the memory in the NV+ and it solved the problem.

    YMMV.
