Mac files stored on NV+ via CIFS have chmod 100
I have a ReadyNAS NV+ running 4.1.10.
If I copy a file from Windows to a share on the NAS using CIFS, its "everyone" permissions are set to read/write, as I configured and expected. (chmod 777)
However, if I copy a file from Mac OS X (Mountain Lion) to the same share, the permissions are set to allow the owner to read the file. But group and world access is set to no access (chmod 100).
The share is configured with default read/write access, guest access allowed and in advanced settings, "share folder everyone rights" are set to read/write.
Can anyone suggest what I might have missed?
Thanks.

- CaseyHNETGEAR ExpertYobyot,
Have you made sure that on the AFP tab you have read/write access set and also check the advanced permissions on both the AFP and CIFS tab to make sure they have full read/write access. - YobyotAspirantI am not using AFP and, yes, fill read/write access is granted to this share. I'd be happy to post a screen snippet showing the permissions on this share, but the forum doesn't (apparently) permit images.
- CaseyHNETGEAR ExpertYobyot,
On the Shares\Share Listing\CIFS tab, make sure the 2 check boxes under "Advanced CIFS Permission" are checked and the permissions are set to read/write. Also go to the "Advanced options " tab and set share folder owner to nobody, share folder group to nogroup, then check the 2 boxes below that and hit apply. This should change the permissions to full access to any user accessing the ReadyNAS. - YobyotAspirant

Thanks.
This is how the share is set up, with the exception of "Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings. This option is useful in cases where you are changing security levels and need to workaround file access problems" in the Advanced Options because, as you know, this changes the permissions to what you've just set the share to be and then the box on next display of the panel is unchecked.
I've used this setting in the past to fix incorrectly permissioned files. This does the trick.
But the original problem -- new files copied from a Mac to this share have permissions of chmod 100 -- is not fixed by these settings, which have been the settings on the share since I set it up. - HariSeldon1AspirantExact same problem here. Been copying files from my Macbook using Mountain Lion to a share on my Readynas via CIFS and now can't delete them as only have read access.
Did you find a solution? - nycshowtimeAspirantAnyone find a solution to this? Having similar problem here. Users are connected via smb on MACs. I get daily complaints about files either being read only or not seen at all.
When I run the CIFS Advanced option to reset Ownership and rights on all files, everything gets fixed. I am finding that I have to run this every day which is obviously a pain to do.
The default share access is set as Read/write and all users belong to the same group.
Any info or suggestions would be much appreciated.
