Mirroring a remote storage
Hello all.
We got a new NV+ v2 for our small office and we are planning to use it for three needs:
1. Sharing files
2. Backup of laptops
3. "Bringing closer" the corporate shared drive
I know how to do the first 2 things but have no idea about the 3rd one. HEre is the situation: in the HQ there is a storage with a shared "drive" mapped to all computers of all employees. Outside of the HQ this drive is accesbible only when the computer is connected to a VPN (Cisco VPN Client). As we have frequent issues with the internet connection, we would like to keep an up to date copy (syncing maybe once a day, at night) of some of the files on that drive on our local Readynas. How can this be realised?
Thank you,
Evgeny

- ReadySECUREApprenticeHave you had a chance to take a look at ReadyNAS Replicate?
I believe this system would help you achieve your goals. Here's a link for Replicate in a Nutshell: http://www.readynas.com/?p=4625 - knfevgAspirantIsn't REPLICATE just for the business series (X86)? I have the NV+ V2....
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes at this time there is only an x86 version of the Replicate add-on not an ARM one.
- knfevgAspirantIs there anyother way I can mirror that network drive?
The only other option I have though of is to setup the laptop to "backup" daily whatever I need from the H drive to the NAS but than I will have to keep the laptop in the VPN at nights.... - ReadySECUREApprenticeSorry about that guys, I thought there was one for sure when I saw this post from Chirpa: viewtopic.php?t=62040&p=348183, considering the placement of the post.

Just a bug with the forum I guess leading to see Global announcements in that subforum.
Replicate requires two x86 ReadyNAS, one as the source and the other as the destination. - replicate is only *one* way sync, from source to destination.
if you needed two-way sync, egnyte might be a solution, but also requires 2 x86 devices, and is also not free (its a pay service). - knfevgAspirantI need one way sync. But the other storage is NOT a readynas and I dont have an admin access to it (cannot install anything on it).
What I though about is having a VPN client on our readynas and a script that connects to the VPN at night, does an incremental copy of specified folders, and disconnects from the VPN...
is it possible?
