My NV+ out of hardware warranty - assuming power supply dead - $75 per issue - is it worth it?
Hi, I have a ReadyNAS NV+ v1 that seems to have a broken power supply ( no light, no spinup, no fan, just dead). This happened right after I replaced the fan (which was making noise) with a new N...

You should reinstall the original fan and see if works again. I saw one review on the Noctua that said that some of the non-PWM fans were mislabeled as PWM. I have no experience with ReadyNAS but if it requires a PWM fan and you unintentionally installed a non-PWM, then this could be the issue.

Thanks TheEther for your reply. As it is, the 1st thing I did was to put back the original fan, but no go. In addition, the CS at Netgear just referred me to Amazon.com or Fry's to buy a new, non-oem fan. I know my warranty is around 2 years expired, but that didn't stop Infrant from helping me with my slightly-expired ReadyNAS Duo with the cylindrical fan.
I asked CS if I could purchase from them an OEM fan; I can do my own debugging. But that was not an option.
Before these problems, I had made my mind up to get a new ReadyNAS, but with all these happenings, and the oldness of the NV+, I purchased a QNAP TS-451-US 4 bays. I've been with the ReadyNAS line for 10 years, but I know whhen it's time to go.
