Whats with the "internal USB key"? Is it instead of having a bit of flash on the motherboard, or creating a boot partition on the array for the system? Can/should one make a backup, does size & speed of said stick matter? (More then likely the size is an issue of having to large sticks, rather then not large enough. Would this be an issue)
The firmware is installed from the flash onto the OS partition on the disks. The flash is used during the early part of the boot process. No need to do a "backup" of this key. Easy enough to write the firmware to a replacement USB key if necessary (should be a 128MB or greater capacity one, 64MB is just enough)
