NFS performance for 3D bluray streaming
I am exploring 3d streaming from my readynas to a media player - probabaly one of the mede8er 3d series.
I have read that due to some high peak bitrates (>90Mbps) it is essential to use NFS and that the NFS should be NFS 32K.
I can't find any information about the NFS version on the readynas, I gather some nas devices use only NFS 8K which is inadequate for bluray 3d streaming.
Anyone know the answer or have any experience streaming bluray 3d (from iso or bluray folder structure) from a readyans

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserMy RN102 supports 64K block size, so I think the RN316 will be at least that.
I don't think you will have any problem as long as you have a gigabit network. I have had no problems streaming Bluray 3D from my Pro to my NTV550. - vandermerweMasterWhat format is the 3D material in? ISO image?
I currently have my standard Bluray as Bluray folder but I gather there are no players that support this format with 3D Bluray, and that some formats ( side to side and top to bottom and mvc ) involve some loss of resolution. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThere are some players that do support 3D BluRay ISO playback, the mede8er MED1000X3D appears to be one of them.
3D BluRay uses the MVC profile of H.264 - which maintains full resolution and frame rate (and requires HDMI 1.4 cables). So you should not list MVC as a format that loses resolution.
Side by Side, and Top / Bottom do lose resolution (either half the horizontal, or half the vertical). - vandermerweMasterOk. I was under the impression that 3 d Bluray folder structure ( as opposed to an ISO) cannot be read by even the mede8er or dune base 3d.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced User3D ISO is actually a little tricker than the folder structure. The ISO is about half the size, because the m2ts files are overlaid on top of the ssif. Some players struggle with that - the NTV550 is one of them. Though it doesn't support 3D Bluray, it should be able to play the disk in 2D mode. It can if it is stored as a folder, but not if it is stored as an ISO.
Anyway, if your player supports ISO but not folders, it is easy to rebuild the ISO from the folder. If your player handles 3D ISO correctly, try re-ripping the 3D disks directly to ISO to get the smallest size.
