NV+ issues with odd LOG entries and excessive LLC
Hi All.
Had my NV+ for 4 years now, 3 years in canada, and now 1 year in Australia with all of the original 2TB HDDs.
In the australian heat i'm now getting a LOT of heat warnings in the logs but i can remedy that. Its even shutdown a couple of times but heat isnt the issue.
ive been getting this in the logs, which is not particularly helpful.
"Access to the disk on channel (??) is producing I/O errors. Although the array is still redundant, please replace this drive as soon as possible, as it is likely to fail soon."
I'd LOVE to know which disc it is. I have a replacement WD 2TB EZRX ready to go.
So, im assuming the gammy disc is on channel 1, based on this picture? RRER and MZER are pretty high but im not sure i should be basing my decision on them. LP Stat Events are also high. Current Pending Sector is also far more than the other 3 discs.

During my research I found out about the LCC problem with the WD ears drives and ive since run wdidle3.exe on all 4 drives in the NV+, and also on the new replacement drive...
Can anyone confirm channel 1 is the disc to replace right now?
(i expect ill have to replace the other 3 pretty quick smart also)
thanks!
dan.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYes, its disk 1. The current pending sectors (and the offline-uncorrectable) are the important indications here. They basically are the same as reallocated sectors. 557 is a high number, you should replace that disk without delay.
The best way is to hot-swap with the NAS running. I always recommend backups, you should make sure the backup is up to date before doing anything with drives. - silviacityAspirantThanks StephenB, seen you on the forums.
Cheers for helping me out.
Disc 1 is swapped and its resync-ing...
cheers!
Dan. - silviacityAspirantmaybe the updated jpg could help someone in the future... after swapping out the old Channel 1 HDD for a new 2tb WD EZRX

i still have NO IDEA what LP Stat Events are...
Thanks again StephenB - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI've never seen a clear explanation of LP Stat Events either...
- silviacityAspirantafter getting my head around this LCC thing i did some maths.
none of the old drives had ever had heywdidlediddle run on them.
LCC/hours
Disc 1(new)
15/22
=0.68
Disc 2
995421/24706
=40.29
Disc 3
1385070/24703
=56.068
Disc 4
600015/13295
=45.13
so the new HDD had wdidle from day one, and only has 0.68 LCC per hour. the older hddrives seemed to be having nearly 1 LCC a minute, for the last 2.8 years.
i wonder how long discs 2,3, and 4 are going to last?
as a side note, enabling jumbo frames sped up what i would call slow data transfer times.
anyway, only responding in case this ever interests anyone in the future.
thanks again.
