NV+ RND4000

Brand new NV+ RND4000 with 4x 2TB WD Disks.

Did a factory reset after installing the disks.
At about 50% of creating the volume the display, all leds (including the blue power led) and the network connection went black.
Waited a while to see if maybe it did a reboot or something, but nothing happened.

Disconnected the power cord, waited a bit and tried to power it up again.

All it does now is turn the fan on. No display, no leds, no network.... even with a known good disk in it.

Any ideas?

  • Try to do another factory reset, there is a possibility that the power was interrupted.
  • That's no option because it's not even booting into any mode.
As I said: no display, no led's, no network, no nothing. Just the fan....
  • Turn off the nas and remove all the drives. Test if the nas will appear on the Raidar saying "No Disk Detected" if this does not happen, then it could a possible chassis problem.
  • As I already mentioned twice, there's no network activity so there's really no point in even starting RAIDar, now is there...

The thought is that the failure may be disk-drive related - and that you might get different results if you remove all the disk drives.

If you get the same results as before, then the problem is definitely in the chassis. But if you see the "no disk detected", then the next step would be to run diags on the drives.
  • If it is the chassis, return the unit to the vendor for replacement of a dead unit. If you RMA the unit with Netgear, you will receive a refurbished unit. With a unit failing on it's first boot, you deserve a new unit.

    Fair enough 8)
Already tried that too though... :(

Gonna send it back and demand a new one
