nv+, st2000ld00, strange beeping, wont go past booting
Hi guys, this is my first NAS and is brand new along with a brand new seagate st2000ld003. After inserting the drive the installation got to 47.8% where it then stopped and strange beeping sounds started coming from the hard drive as the nas was trying to access this.
After half an hour stuck at 47.8% i switched off the NAS and tried it on my PC as per instructions on the net. The bios recognised it as a hard drive but would not read from it. Raidar recognised the NAS while it was setting up but now it wont and the NAS wont go past the booting please wait...
factory reset gets stuck at please wait...
im i just really unlucky and the drive is failed half way through installation? is the dead drive the reason why raidar wont recognise the nas or why the factory reset wont go ahead?
I've read on the seagate forums that a few people have had issues with this drive failing and giving off the strange beeping sounds. I bought the drive from SCAN.co.uk a couple of days ago, am i within my rights to get it replaced with a new drive? Or will they try and fob me off with its my fault?
sorry for long post, and thanks in advance for any answers.

- sphardy1ApprenticeIf you can connect it to your PC, try running the SeaTools diagnostic tools (http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/suppor ... s/seatools) - this should verify the health of the disk.
But you have probably suffered a failure and , irrespective of any additional tests, your supplier should exchange it - feno_ukAspirantyeah, my PC wouldn't recognise it in sea tools or on the PC. even though the bios said hard disk next to 3rd boot master, wouldnt get anything from the drive.
i'm just glad it is the drive that's dead and not sounding like an issue with the nv+. I've just posted to the supplier see if they will swap for different brand of drive.
cheers
