Another strange Pro 6 OS 6 qwirk
SO, after rebuilding my Pro 6 with a factory default, the web GUI shows the above. It used to show the picture of teh Pro 6 and the model was filled in correctly. I do not know what happened or how to get it back. Yes, it is cosmetic but still annoying.
After getting back into the BOOT FLASH, I found that the VPD file was missing. So I copied it back over from my USB backup and now it is looking "normal" again.

They apparently screwed this up with the 6.10.9 release and didn't correct it in 6.10.10. As best I can tell, the pointer to the artwork is in a binary file, and I've been unable to find the artwork itself in and identifiable file type. You could look at the html source of the page and see if you can find it. I don't have a unit with that error in service any longer.

I just noticed your serial number -- you've got something more going on.

Only thing I can tell is that upgrading the CPU is cauing this misinformation. Another factory default did not change anything. dmidecode shows the same info as well.

You appear to have an issue with your VPD file. More typically, that causes the NAS to not even boot. It may be that you have one of the rare "no serial number" VPD files Netgear accidently sold some units with. With OS4.2.x, they then showed the MAC address as their serial number. But maybe OS6 doesn't. If this only occurred on a factory default, there is no reason your VPD should have been corrupted, as I believe your flash never gets write enabled during one.

It used to show fine. It was just since I did a USB Recovery to get back to booting (yes OS 6 version). I am thinking that I might try going into Tech Support mode and mounting the BOOT FLASH partition, check the VPD filesize, and copy back the backup I made of it before all this. We will see ...

Ah, yes. USB recovery can corrupt the VPD file. You are lucky the unit is booting at all. See Backup and restore of VPD file for legacy ReadyNAS running OS6 | NETGEAR Communities before something more goes wrong.

Hmmm. I wonder if that means that Netgear did away with the requirement for a valid VPD in legacy units running OS6 or that you just got lucky. I know people with corrupt VPDs have had issues with 6.10.9 and 6.10.10, but maybe the solution now is just to delete it (and put up with that oddity).
