OMV on ReadNas 312
My trusty ReadyNas 312 is moving towards support EOL and runs a very old custom version of Debian x86_64 oj it.
I have seen that some have updated Arm based NAS boxes so I'm guessing that an Intel based box should also be possible, but how?
The / drive appears to be on the RAID but the boot folder is missing the usual initrd.img and other essential bits that I gather are on a flash drive or something. However, the only block devices I can find under /dev are the various RAID partitions so where is this flash drive hiding and how to update it with a supported third party solution?

While it's not specifically aimed at this issue, see Backup-and-restore-of-VPD-file-for-legacy-ReadyNAS-running-OS6 for information on how to access the flash device.
The flash is rather small for a generic Linux OS system . You are better off putting just a boot loader there, then booting from the drives -- which is what ReadyNASOS does.
