If the NAS hardware failed under warranty you should be able to get it replaced under RMA.
That kernel version is too old. You need to update to a newer kernel or manually backport a whole lot of patches.

I would suggest trying at least kernel 3.14
You may also need to install a newer version of btrfs-tools.
