Problems with directly uploading file from link without local download

Hello,

I would like my NAS to download a file to a folder using an HTTP Link without having to first downloading it locally.

Just like with a torren client I would like my RN104 to download a file that is not stored on my local device (for example load a file on my NAS in office A from a given http link while I'm in office B without having to first download the file in office B and then uploading it manually).

So far I did not find any way to do this, neither in an os function nor in an add on avaliable in the store (Transmission and qbittorent only handle Torrent links)

What would you suggest to achieve such a goal?

Thanks in advance

Guillaume

    Hello guigui_bebert,

Are you trying to get the NAS to download a file from an HTTP link that works like a torrent file? Can you explain what or where the server the NAS will be downloading from?

    Regards,

    • hello,

This is exactly what i wish to achieve.

In this exact case I was trying to download on the NAS some heavy install files from a software editor wich does not provide torrent or ftp shares.

Files would be put to disposal on the rn to be accessed locally on the rn104 (not on the same network as I was located).

Of course there are many workaround ways to do this, including connecting remotely to a machine on the distant network downloading it from there and setting the target on the readynas but since I have seen this feature on some devices like synology nas out of the box or a network provider modem/server (even including a chrome extension enabling the server as a target) I was wondering how to do it on a readynas.

After some researches I did not find anything so I decided to ask here ;-)

      Thanks

        Hello guigui_bebert,

If there server where the files will coming from has an option to connect or be copied to DropBox, can you check this DropBox will work? The idea of the DropBox is whatever file you copy to your DropBox account will be stored to anywhere you have installed DropBox application, that includes NAS if  it has the app too.
