Radiator 4.1.13 still gets corrupted after several weeks
I have a Readynas NV+ with 4 supported disks, 1GB of RAM running Radiator 4.1.13.
What happens every month or two months is this:
After the reboot I can start an update from local. After the reboot and update there is a lot of disk activity.
What can this be, and how can I resolve this problem?
What happens every month or two months is this:
- I suddenly get a very bad read performance, videos stutter.
- Raidar doesn't show the firmware version (4.1.13) any more, and neither does Frontview.
- It is not possible to shutdown the Readynas from Frontview, you have to use the on/off button.
After the reboot I can start an update from local. After the reboot and update there is a lot of disk activity.
What can this be, and how can I resolve this problem?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced User4.1.3???? or 4.1.13?
What were you trying to update to? - grunnsatAspirantSorry, it was 4.1.13. I changed it in my original posting.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe normal question here is whether the 2 GB OS partition is running out of space. If you have ssh installed, that is easy to check - "df . -h" will do it.
If not, then perhaps delete all logs (system and backup) and then see if anything changes. If the OS partition is in fact near-full, downloading the logs before deleting them can lock up the unit. So it is best not to do that. - grunnsatAspirantI have ssh installed. When I use PuTTY to connect to the readynas, it asks for username / password. I use admin & the admin password, but then the session is terminated. What am I doing wrong?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe user for SSH is root. If you installed EnableRootSSH the root password would have been set to be the same as the admin password at the time you installed EnableRootSSH. Though they are separate passwords and can be changed separately.
- grunnsatAspirantThanks, that worked. A few minutes before I was able to save the logs, and clear the logs. The df shows that now 18% of the OS partition is in use. The unpacked size of the logs is appr. 4MB, so nowhere near the 1.5GB that is free now.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserOk. 18% use is of course fine.
Do you have any add-ons installed? - grunnsatAspirantNo, no add-ons installed. I checked all the log files, and did not find any real errors.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDo you still have the stock memory?
- grunnsatAspirantDon't know. will have to look for it. I did memory checks (several times in fact), and the memory passed all times.
