Re: Firmware Update to 6.7.3 Failed

Same problem - no access to device at all, can't ping, let alone SSH, nothing, never came back onto network. I'm remotely situated, so will have to take the night train to the office, but not sure what to do when I get there. Please help if possible. Thanks!

It was the full root issue. It's fixed.

Edit: If you have updated to 6.7.3 and ran into this issue please try USB Boot Recovery with ReadyNAS OS 6.7.4 which is now available!

If you have not yet upgraded please upgrade to 6.7.4 rather than 6.7.3. If your system has already been fixed I would still suggest updating to 6.7.4 the normal way using the web admin GUI.

Your problem may be different actually. If it's not booting at all. Most likely you've run into the mount_block_root issue some others are reporting but there's no display on the RN312 to confirm that. I'd try a power cycle and if it still has the same problem I'd suggest USB Boot Recovery.

Thanks again - at the office now still. NAS seems to boot up (ie lights come on, though sometimes the blue power light doesn't stay on once fully booted, which seems a bad sign), however it simply grabs a DHCP address from the router for a few seconds (I see it in the router interface), then disappears again from the network. Even during the few seconds it has a DHCP address, I can't ping it or access the admin interface using the DHCP address I take from the router interface.

So it doesn't show in RAIDar?

My guess would be that it's the mount_block_root error reported in some other threads. Of course the RN312 doesn't have a display on the front.
