Read ONLY Flag gets set automatically after Yosemite Upgrade

Since upgrading my multiple iMacs in the house to Yosemite, I find that whenever I open a file from my Ultra6 (RAIDator ver 4.2.27) with Microsoft Word (Mac 2011) and a Nikon Capture NX2 (2.4.7), the file's Read Only attribute gets set and I can't then save the file back to its original location without changing the file name. On occasion, I can't even make Save As work properly, after receiving an error message that the Ultra6 appears to be full. My only resort in those cases is to save to my computer hard drive and then copy that file back to the server. The Ultra6 is definitely not full since there is at least 25% free capacity.

The issue happens on both my iMac and my Macbook Air - and it started with the installation of Yosemite. Before I was fine.

My Ultra6 is operating on a wired LAN managed by a Verizon FIOS Actiontec router (model MI424WR-GEN3I / firmware 40.21.18)

Does anyone have any suggestions. My search of websites comes up empty handed. Since this problem extends beyond my Microsoft office suite and includes Nikon software, I presume that it's an operating system issue between the Mac OS and the ReadyNAS OS.

Are you using AFP or CIFS?

Did you try resetting the owner/group/permissions for the share in frontview? (advanced options tab).
  • Many thanks for the suggestions ... Resetting permissions to R/W for all entries in Frontview seems to have fixed the problem at first blush. I'll try more comprehensive test later.

FYI, I normally gain access to my shares via automated logon routine in my Mac. I send command from File menu attaching via an SMB:// ... command. I have AFP, CIFS, and NFS enabled on all shares with R/W access as default for all. Should I consider reducing number of file access options?

If you are entering smb:// then you are using CIFS. Other mac users here probably can tell you which protocols work best with yosemite.
