Ready Nas Adding a new disk

I have 3 disks already installed and just want to confirm that if I add a 4th disk, the system will detect it and add it to the remaining disks or will i have to 'do' something to kickstart the process?

Thanks

    Are you using XRAID?

If so, when you insert an unformatted drive that at least as big as the largest already installed, it will be added automatically.

If the drive is already formatted, you will need to select it on the volumes page, and then select "format".  That protects you from accidentally destroying data that might be on the new disk.

      Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure if I'm using XRAID or not - how do I determine this?

Thanks (apologies for being uneducated in such matters :-) )

If you aren't sure, then you probably are.

The way to tell is to look on the volumes tab of the web ui. There's a control on the right labeled X-RAID.  If the control has a green stripe through it, then X-RAID is on.
