Ready NAS Duo V2 - No Disks Detected after Firmware Upgrade
I recently carried out a firmware update on my Ready NAS Duo V2 (RND2000).
I then went away for Christmas, and have not been able to read the disk since. I am only using a single disk as I am just using it as a NAS.
I received an email from the NAS whilst away;
I was not in a position to respond to this at the time and now cannot get at any of the setup as it is reporting "No Disks Detected"
I have read that there is a 10 second option after a reboot, which may have chosen a different option to what was in before, but do not know how to check or change this setting.
I do not have a second disk to insert and mess around with.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

A SATA reset has been performed on one or more of your disks that may have affected the RAID parity integrity. It is recommended that you perform a RAID volume resync from the RAID Settings tab ( accessible in the Volumes page => Volume tab in FrontView ). The resync process will run in the background, and you can continue to use the ReadyNAS in the meantime.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced User(a) are you sure you have a v2? The labeling is confusing... Check out this guide: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
(b) There is no 10-second option after reboot. I think you are confusing the boot-menu instructions (when you are holding down buttons during boot up) with the normal boot up.
It is possible that your disk simply failed. The next step is to power down the NAS, and run the vendor's disk diags on a PC (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital). - xixauAspirantThanks for your response StephenB.
I have further information about this, firstly you are right it is a version 1, stupid of me to think that V2 on the bottom mean't it was a version 2.
Now learning more 'the hard way' I have bought 2 new disks and inserted both and started again and seem to be moving forwards.
It would appear that what has happened, is that when the firmware upgraded, it has swapped from FlexRAID to RAIDX and therefore did not recognise the disk.
1. Why would it do this, I have upgraded before and not had any problems, this time I 'fired and forgot' and was not there to supervise and make the decision. The comment I made previously about the "10 second option" should have actually read that there was 10 minutes to chose the RAID type.
2. If I am using only one disk in the device, why would it default to RAID X ?? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI'm not sure what went wrong over Christmas. I don't think it switched raid formats on you, I think something else happened. If you still have the disk, it might be possible to recover the data somehow.
With the new drives, you were re-installing from scratch, and not upgrading. The default raid format is xraid.
xraid is probably the right default for most users. If you were to add a second drive, you would get raid protection (instead of more capacity). If you never plan to add a second drive, then you can just leave it. (Though I guess you actually do have 2 drives installed, despite note 2????)
Or you can redo it (within the 10 minute window), but it requires another factory reset.
