ReadyCloud App VPN won't connect

I have a ReadyNAS 426 (2x2TB Enterprise) (RN426E22) and seems to work fine when I'm at the office on the same network.

When I'm home (remote) I can connect to Ready Cloud via the webpage, but the app won't connect.

I'm ultimately looking to connect my Apple (MacBook pro) time machine to my NAS to back up.  Apple Time Machine works fine in the office on the same network.

What are my options?

VPN?

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

ReadyNAS Network Storage: Official NETGEAR Community

You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

    VPN?

I believe there are some issues with Macs that use the M1/M2 chip.  Is your MacBook Pro using them, or is is one of the older Intel models?

Another possibility is that your company IT folks are blocking the port that ReadyCloud is using.  Are you seeing the two green checkmarks on the cloud page when you are in the office?

If your company has a VPN set up, then it might be easier to just connect over that VPN, and not use ReadyCloud.
