ReadyNAD Duo know longer visible on network

Hey guys, I've been using a ReadyNAS Duo happily for the last several years. A couple of days ago I noticed I cannot see it on my Win'7 network listing anymore and a drive I have mapped is red X'd. Weirdly though I can see some of the film folders, music and photos but not all when viewed on my DLNA TV. I can also see it with programs like Fing and can connect as Admin.

Anyone come across anything similar? I'm guessing I have changed something somewhere along the line but I can't remember the last time I noticed it so don't know what or where I changed anything.

Cheers
Gary

    Do you have ssh enabled?

Can you see all the folder if you enter \\NASNAME in windows explorer?
  • Ok, am thoroughly confused now. I know my way round a PC and network so have spent an hour or two testing switches, cables, settings on PCs and NAS itself.

I have one PC where I cannot see the NAS at all under Network (Win 8.1) and another I can. The PC where I can see the NAS I can only see a basic folder tree and little or no contents when viewed under PC resources ie. nasname:ReadyNAS Duo. I also have Panasonic TV which is DLNA enabled where I can see photo folders (and photos), music folders (and music) but nothing under the videos folder. I have reset, updated software and checked settings and am still none the wiser. All very odd.

    Laptop running 8.1
    Panasonic TV DLNA enabled
    Sony Bravia TV DLNA enabled

I don't have much experience with Win 8.Though where I'd start on the PCs is deleting any credentials in the windows credentials manager, and re-entering the credentials you want to use with the NAS.

Then connect with \\NASNAME in windows explorer (and not bother with anything you see under network).

It might also be useful to enable ssh, and check the OS partition (which can't be done any other way).
  • Evening all, apologies to anyone waiting a response to help with similar issues. Looks like I have managed to get to resolve the problem although I couldn't swear how or why it is solved. After resetting routers, protocols, opening ports with no effect I removed one of my HDDs with the intention of factory resetting my ReadyNAS. I ran out of time and put the HDD back in just for convenience sake which forced a re-sync and hey presto the ReadyNAS is visible again to my PC and DLNA TVs. I could speculate as to why but it really would be guess work so I'm going to leave that to others. Thanks StephenB for suggestions and help along the way.
