ReadyNAS DUO power loss and now green blinking lights
Hi All,
I just experienced a power failure and the ReadyNAS DUO went down unexpectedly. When the power came back on the NAS was manually powered on by me. As the NAS powered up the blue power light never comes on and the 1 and 2 lights are now blinking green.
The device was accesible moments before the power failure but not sure on the blinking green lights. Both 1 and 2 are flashing alternating green and there is no blue power indicator light and the device is not accesible/discoverable on the network. The fan is also on high and has not slowed down?
I have not performed any soft/hard reset at all and the NAS has been powered on for several hours now in this state. I am unclear as to whether the drives are syncing or they are both failing? Please let me know what steps I can take to either recover the NAS and/or data?
Thanks

- vandermerweMasterIs there a pattern to the disk led blinking? Does the backup led blink at any stage?
Does raidar see the readynas?
Do you have a backup? - GuitarMan86AspirantThanks for the quick response.....
No patern other than both 1 and 2 are blinking green and alternating slowly....same pattern. no change
Backup light does not light and neither does the blue power indicator light.
Raidar does not see the device.
No backup unfortunately - vandermerweMasterIs the unit still under warranty?
Can you access the boot menu?:
http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... _boot_menu - GuitarMan86AspirantNo, the unit is no longer under warranty unfortunately.
When accessing the boot menu which option should be chosen as to not lose data? The boot menu shows holding the power button and pressing reset button for however many seconds..... But not sure which option you're suggesting. Thanks - vandermerweMasterOS reinstall
Do you have aDuo v1 or v2? Accessing the boot menu is different for each.
The model number of the V2 is RND2000-200. The V1 is RND2000-100

- vandermerweMasterIf the data is intact the OS reinstall will not destroy data.
You may not be able to access the boot menu, at least if you can you could try an OS reinstall. - GuitarMan86AspirantSo...for a V1 ReadyNAS DUO how is the OS reinstall performed? Does it involve the reset button for 5 seconds while the unit is on? I am not clear on what is the correct way for a V1 device? Thanks

- GuitarMan86AspirantThanks for that..... it seems I am unable to get into the boot menu? I have a V1 DUO.
I unplugged the device and plugged it back in.
Put a paperclip in and held down the reset button.
Powered on the device while still holding down the reset button.
Device powers on (but no blue power light) and the green dick lights flash alternating on 1 and 2.
Hold down the reset for 5 seconds.....still no change with the dick lights flashing?
Cant get into the boot menu?
