ReadyNas Duo V2 Disk Upgrade 6TB
Hello together,
my Nas has aktually one 3TB disc installed. Thisdisc is nearly full and i want to have a raid 1 to avoid loosing data because of a disc fail.
So i was wondering if it's possible to install 2x6TB (or 2x5TB), so I'll have enough space for rthe next years. Or is there any known limitation?
Has somebody running such a configuration (I wasn't able to find something about it).
Best regards.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThey are coming onto the market, but last time I checked they were not on the HCL. They could well work, but Netgear would deny support. You could check your warranty status and see how much support time you'd be giving up.
- Unknown1AspirantHere in Germany that discs are avaiable.
I'm still in warrenty, but I've also other discs (f.e. the at the moment installed 3TB Seagate avaiable.
So should there be a problemn, I change the disc. Should the system work fine after that, it's my problem. Otherwise it's a warrenty topic. So I think warrenty isn't a problem. But I'm afraid to buy that expansive discs and after that they don't work.
So I think I'll watch the prices (I think they will fall very fast the next time) and then perhaps I'll try it.
Thank you for your support.
Best regards. - Unknown1AspirantHello together,
any news concerning that issue?
At the moment I run out of space with the 3tb disc installed, so I want to do the upgrade the next weeks.
I think I'll use the WD RED, avaiable for around 250€:

Are there any size regulations or something like that so 2x6tb in Raid 1 won't work? Or any experience?
Thank you.
BR - vandermerweMasterThe situation is the same as it was when you first posted:
It is probable that the disks will work, but they aren't on the HCL so you have a warranty issue.
How are you planning to backup the data. Have you considered using the duo as a backup nas and buying a new readynas that does have 6 tb disks on the HCL? - Unknown1AspirantI want to use the two discs in a Raid 1, so the duo is my backup.
I want to avoid to buy a new nas. One point are the costs and the duo works fine, has a good performance and so on. So the only advantage from a new nas for me would be the supported discs.
So I think I should try and if it doesn't work I've to buy a new one...
Thank you. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhere is the primary copy of the data stored? RAID is not a replacement for backups.
If you download your logs what does initrd.log look like?
