ReadyNas NV+ Checking FS stops at 48%
I hope someone can help me, warning I'm not technical !! ReadyNas NV+ v1 - 4 x 2tb drives After running flawlessly for 5 years it decided to do a Check FS when I turned it on, don't think there was...

Disk 3 seems to be failing. You could try shutting down the NAS and booting the NAS w/o it.

It sounds like a failing disk or a volume that has somehow gotten corrupted.
Are you able to see the SMART stats for the drives while it is running (status->health in the web admin page)

Thanks for your help.
By Skiping Vol Check can access SMART stats. Didn't have long before lose connection but took a screen grab of each disk.
Don't know what I'm looking for but the big difference comparing the four disks is the Raw Read Error Rate figure which is 0 for Disks 1,2,4 but 60766 for Disk 3. The other difference is Current Pending Sector, Offline Uncorrectable, Multizone Error Rate figures are 0 for Disks 1,2,4 but 5,2,22 respectively for Disk 3.
The Health screen listing the disks shows status OK for all disks.
When I booted it not checking volumes it first says Booting... Disc 4 Sync. Also if I look at Volume setting Status was Resync 6% complete time to finish 49.1 min.
Yes I have a backup of the data I'm pleased to say !!
Again thanks for your help.

Excellent Stephen, thank you.
I did as you suggested, removed Disk 3 and rebooted.
It went though the Check FS and finished after a couple of hours or so. It is all working great, can access it and all files seem to be there.
Going to the Web admin page there were 2 pop up messages
- Raid Sync Started on Volume C Wed Mar 16 20:46
- Volume Scan Found and Corrected Errors Thur 17 00:48
Status\Health = Green light on Disks 1,2,4 and Disk 3 is Unkown 1862 GB - Dead
Volume Settings = Configuration: (Expandable RAiD), 4 Disks. Status: Not Redundant. A Disk failure will render this volume dead. It still shows same Disk space as before - 3140GB (56%) of 5555 GB used
Am I right that basically it's spread the data across the 3 remaining disks without any "raid safety' ? (I did mention I wasn't technical :-) )
If I can take your time up a bit further, could you advise me how to get back to normal. I'm guessing I need to replace Disk 3 I've removed ? Guess it's best to buy a new one compared to trying to repair the one I've taken out ? The new one does it need to be the same as one removed (WD 2.0TB SATA /64MB Cache WD20EARS) ? If I buy one do I need to format it before I put it in ? (i use CIFS so my Mac and PCs can access it).
Sorry for so many questions but trying to get all answers so I don't have to keep bothering you. Again many thanks, you have really helped me. Regards, Duncan
