Readynas RNDP6000 (OS6) power cycling every 2 seconds following a area-wide power outage.
hi guys
hoping for any suggestions of where to start fault finding, to get my NAS to boot up ?
We had "that storm" yesterday and electricity to the whole area was off for 24 hours. When it came back on, the only thing not working was the NAS. I could hear it turning on and off quickly and the blue power led was going on and off as if power cycling as if not getting enough power...?
all i have done so far is disconnect the mains cable for a few mins, but this made no difference. Issue is the same.
many thanks

should I assume it's safe to test the main NAS motherboard using a standard 300w ATX PC power supply ?
Should be. See this old discussion thread:

It could be a failed power supply. This can be replaced.
I suggest unplugging it and removing the disks (labeling them by slot, so you know where they go). Then power up diskless, and see if you see the same behavior.

ok thanks Stephen ill give that a go
i neglected to mention that the nas was operating on a UPS and would have shutdown when the battery got to 20%, does this have any bearing on the fault ?

ok stripped the unit down removing the PSU for testing since it continued to exhibit the same fault with all drives removed.
on testing the PSU (with a PSU tester), only the 5v was present. 3v and 12v are dead rails.
looks like a replacement is needed. are there any good recommended alternative (or modded) PSU's I can tinker with ?
many thanks
