ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Fails after setup
I've had my ReadyNAS for about a year and have used it for about 5 hours total. I watched 2 movies on it, and an hour of setup/file transfer time. My wife decided it was time to clear out the DVD case and asked me to encode them to make room for Blu-rays. I turned my NAS on after being turned off for 8 months and found RAIDar saying it needed to update Raidiator, which I did. After the update completed, it threw the "Corrupt Boot" notice, even though it was perfectly fine 5 minutes prior. I performed a factory default reset. RAIDar found the NAS after it completed. I hit the "Setup" button, created an XRAID2 volume and as soon as it completed creating the volume, my NAS dropped off RAIDar. The NAS will respond to ping requests and shows up in my active DHCP server. I've tried a different drive and the same thing happened. I even went so far as to purchase another new drive a few days ago. They are on the compatibility list, by the way. Same result with the new drive.
I've ready several accounts that updating to the new firmware has bricked their NAS. I have created a Support Case, but they are no help at all, all they want is for me to pay the $75 charge for assistance. My device is still under warranty and I don't feel it's fair to have to pay $75 when it seems pretty obvious that the firmware is what broke the device. I can telnet into the device via command line, but cannot force a downgrade in the firmware. I've tried to navigate to the download ftp, but it appears to have been decommissioned. I have performed no command line operations with in telnet. I only verified telnet connectivity and terminated the connection.
How can I push an older firmware back to my NAS. I don't care if it's via telnet or USB, it would just be nice to have a working device again. Thanks! I appreciate any help.

The factory reset may not have been necessary but you have done that now.
This is not a bug with the latest firmware. The issue is something different. If you give me the information requested in my PM, I can confirm what the problem is.
Welcome to the forum! - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe factory reset I just triggered seeing there is no data on it should work fine. As I suspected a file was corrupt on the internal flash.
- tigermike74AspirantThank you for your help! You've saved me a lot of gray hairs over this!
Netgear should give you a big raise for the help you give! :) - MakosxAspirantHello!
I have a problem!!!
After Factory reset I start the Raidar 4.3.8. run the "Disktest"
test is OK (the led on tool-bar is green).
Click SETUP and choose Volume (X-RAID2) then push next.
Is in FW status show „Installing”, on the toolbar where show the VOLUME blinking the green LED and FW status show 21% (some times show 42%, 61% or 100%).
After a few seconds the Raidar panel show the „help” description. On the NAS light the act and Disk 1 LED, Disk 2 LED blinking.
I waited for several hours but not completed by the NAS and Raidar only shows the „help” section. This process also tried several times but it always ended the same.
The DHCP is see the ip address, dut I can't connect to the readynas Ultra 2
The HDD is HCL compatibille (Toshiba DT01ACA100)!
What can be wrong?
