Real-world MacBook Pro GB Ethernet rates ?
I'm looking to get a MacBook Pro to replace my MacBook Air as the lack of a decent GB LAN alternative is getting on my wick (as we say).
I have to copy 40GB files between 2 ReadyNAS Pro units which takes an age with a GB - USB adaptor.
Yes, I could buy a Thunderbolt display - but that's a lot of $ £ € for just a GB NIC.
Anyone here with a 2011 SSD MacBook Pro with data on actual data rates to/from a ProPioneer through a GB network (CAT6 wiring, GB switch etc) ?

- I can peak at 101MB/s to the Pro6. Pro6 has 2 ethernet connections.
I think you can link the two readynas's and use rsync? or replicate to cross copy/sync.
40GB is not very much, I think you could copy that over 1GB/s in 20min, or 1-2 hours over wife. - Thanks. Can you confirm that you are actually using a MacBook Pro for this ?
I can do 40GB in 17 mins with my Win7 PC, but it's real-world data from an MBP that I'm looking for.
FYI over WiFi 802.11n with an MBA I only get 12MBps when copying between 2 ProPioneers.
Using a GB - USB adaptor I get 16MBps. - I will take some screen shots tonight. But I am not copying between Pro6s, just MBP(2009) to my Pro or visa versa
- Why not use Frontview backup (e.g. over NFS) for NAS to NAS backups? Should be much quicker than copying from one NAS to your PC then onto the other NAS.
- I don't trust any backup/mirror process that I can't see happening.
I actually use ViceVersa Pro to mirror - this I can monitor and control.
This is in Win7, running in Bootcamp through Parallels7 on an MBA.

Yes I know it lacks a ethernet port, but just do that virtually over the network. not thru the mac as the previous poster suggested. - There is talk, I think that a Thunderbolt to gigabit adapter is coming later this year which would be far more cost effective than getting a display.
- Yes, Belkin have just announced for the second time that they will have a TB dock with a GB NIC. Also there is the mythical Sonnet TB to GB NIC adaptor announced last year.

I am running gigabit LAN, I can move data to the Mac and see min 100Mb/sec, and copy to the NAS min 50Mb/sec.... Sometimes 110/60. If it is only 10mb then I stop copy and restart.... Means I am copying to many files or too big.
This is first class product, very happy with it. - Fulbik I assume you mean MByte/sec not Mbit/sec?
