Restore from Time Machine using Lion
Product: Readynas NVX
Version: 4.2.18, now 4.1.19-t4
So it looks like the internal drive in my unibody MBPro has died. Before I buy the actual replacement drive I did a temporary OS install to an external USB drive, just to verify that it is just the hard drive that has died. That worked fine, but I thought I'd try the time machine restore. I can see the readynas, and when I select it I get prompted for a username/password. If I enter invalid credentials I get re-prompted. When I enter valid credentials I get the following error:
There was a problem connecting to the server "readynas.local"
The share does not exist on the server. Please check the share name and try again.
When I try to turn on time machine booted into the OS I get "The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error 2)"
I'm getting a bit concerned as I can't fix the file system on the internal drive (may not be able to access it at all) - repair fails, so I will need to rely on the time machine backups for data recovery.
I had successful backups from my system using 4.2.18 firmware. I noted that there was a firmware 'update' available, so installed it (happened to downgrade to 4.2.17 (oops!). i then downloaded the 4.2.19-t4 beta and updated my NVX with that. Same problem. :-(
Any suggestions?

- chargenAspirantIt appears as though my memory isn't what it used to be. I forgot there was a separate username/password for time machine access until I saw this article:
http://www.readynas.com/?p=1730
which triggered my memory. Username: ReadyNAS - I can now get beyond the OSStatus error 2 and can select the volume and backup time I want to restore from. I can't actually do a backup until I get the new drive as I don't have a large enough temporary drive.
Should know more tomorrow!
