RN-104 I don't want RAID
I don't really want RAID
I understand the implications that I dont have any safeguard if a disk fails. That doesnt worry me.
I just want to use the 4 x 4tb drives I have slotted in as separate accessible hard drives (eg p:/ , q:/, r:/ and s:/)
Yes...I know...I should just have purchased 4 external hard drives....but I'm now stuck with this system which I dont quite understand.
The ReadyNas is currently striping data on x-raid but it's going to take another 24 hours to complete that task.
I have time free today to set it up but can't figure out what I need to do.
I tried to do it last time but when I added the disks in the system automatically chose RAID 5 for me
Ive seen another thread which kind of got stuck with do you REALLY want to do that and no clear explanation of what I need to do.
If I power down it restarts the syncing from where it left off.
Please don't try and assist me by suggesting what I am doing is wrong.....I just want 4 separate hard drives which I can read and write to
I have cloud backups for anything important
If you need any information please explain in dummy terms where I can get that from - Im not that techie.
Thanks :)
under volume tab u may click on x-raid box to disable it. then highlight the volume and destroy it.
after that u may select respective level of raid or jbod.
for 4 bay drives i may select 2 bays and create raid 0 new volume, and then select the other 2 bays raid 0 as another new volume.
or u can create 4 drives raid 5 or raid 6 with one new volume.
just an example.

Thanks very much
I opted for the 4 separate volumes (it works better for me that way)
and once I learned I had to create a share for each of them they work just how I need them
Thanks for your time.
