RN10200 "Device offline" and RAIDar cannot find device #27819067

So, a collegue of mine deployed a new RN10200 a week ago. When I came on site it was possible to use file sharing, ie copy files to and from the NAS without problem.
However, trying to get into the web interface was not possible. When trying I get the user/pass box and type that in. That takes me to the GUI. I can see some menu options but I cannot do anything since I get the "Device Offline" message.

The firmware is ancient: 6.1.4 and since I cannot use the GUI I cannot update it. RAIDar (yes, tried all version online) cannot find the device either. Yes, I can ping it and reach the NAS as a file share.

Here is what I've tried so far:

* OS Reinstall. Solved nothing
* Factory Reset. Solved nothing
*Another OS Reinstall. Solved nothing.

So, I thought that using USB Recovery to update the firmware would be the next thing to try. However, after downloading the program and the 6.2.4 firmware (which according to the web is the next step when trying to upgrade the firmware), I put the firmware file (of course unzipped) in the Marvell folder (as described in the guide).

I start the program and choose my USB drive.
I select the RN100 NAS, since RN10200 isn't available in the list. And belive me I've tried other options as well.
When I click the drop down menu in the last step to select firmware file it is empty.
I've tried different versions of firmware files, but no luck.

So now good people of the Internet, I turn to you. Hopefully someone has an idea of what to do next.

And, YES...I have contacted support, but they only give me a possible solution every 24 hours, and I'm leaving ths site today....Need a solution ASAP.

Thx in advance!

  • I understand supported assisted with updating the firmware of the system to 6.2.4 then to 6.5.2 and then on to 6.6.0 and this resolved the problem.

  • As stated in the original post Raidar doesn't find it at all.
    Support will check it tomorrow, hopefully they can solve it.

      There is a boot menu option you can use which should lead to it picking up an I.P. address via DHCP, being discovered by RAIDar, and allow support to remotely diagnose the problem.

      As you're running such old firmware some alternatives we'd normally be able to try can't be tried.

      A possibility could be that a firewall on your PC blocking RAIDar from communicating with your NAS. Still if the web admin interface is reporting that the device is offline we would need to use the boot menu option as you're running such old firmware.

  • That is correct.
    I would have done it myself, but as stated I was unable. Support downloaded latest Chrome and was able to navigate the web interface through that.
    So if anyone else get stuck the same way: try using Chrome.

    Thx for all your support!
