RN104 OS 6.5.0 Stuck at Booting 99%

Hi All,

I have been using my ReadyNAS 104 with OS 6.5.0 for awhile now. Yesterday I decided to reboot the ReadyNAS after shutting off PLEX.

After the reboot the system is stuck at "Booting...  99%"

I have tried :

  1. OS reinstall 3X and still stuck at 99% after "FW Update"
  2. USB Recovery. 3X the with the OS 6.5.0 image. The NAS shutdownand I rebooted it. Still suck at 99%.
  3. Tried the Volume REead Only and this time its stuck at 73%

Raider can detects the system and the tests are all OK.

STATUS : Management Service is Offline.

Does any one have any ohter isea how i can restore the Firmware ?

I am actually able to download the log files, where do I need to look inorder to find the error ?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • I'm also seeing some other signs of database trouble - entries like:

    Jun 05 12:41:22 GYHL2 readynasd[4253]: DB sanity check failed! Trying backup readynasd_2016_06_04_145137.db

But I can't think of much you can do about this, especially without access to the web ui.  If you have a backup, then a factory reset (and reload data from the backup) might be the best option.  Painful, but certain.   Of course you can also go with support.

It could be a failing disk, so maybe start in disk_info.log

      Hi Stephen,

Thank you for you reponse. I have checked the disk log file and found nothing.

I booted into "Disk check" and "Memory Check" and both looked ok (I am not 100% sure though)

The last operation I performed on the NAS was uninstallation of PLEX. In the install_debpkg.log file it says :

The following packages will be REMOVED:
      plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 33 not upgraded.
After this operation, 251 MB disk space will be freed.
(Reading database ... 34076 files and directories currently installed.)
      Removing plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries ...
Purging configuration files for plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries ...
dpkg: warning: while removing plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries, directory '/apps/plexmediaserver' not empty so not removed
      Processing triggers for libc-bin ...
      Success purge plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries

What would be the next recomended step to check for or to do ?

      Thank you

I took the liberty and sent out the log files
