Rsync only takes Windows, not Apple files/folders off ReadyN
Hello ReadyNAS users,
I set up an rsync from a 3rd party device to pull a folder directly from my Mac, no problem. Everything seemed to come across just fine. I set up an rsync from the same thing to pull from my Ready NAS and only the files & Folders that were created on the Windows 8 machine came across. The vast majority of files were created under OS-X. The same folders were shared from the ReadyNAS via NFS, AFP, CIFS, FTP, etc... Is it a permissions thing or something else because I have no problems at all accessing the same files and folders from either O/S on the ReadyNAS. Its only when trying to rsync. I have everything as anonymous access, no restrictions on which IPs can rsync, everything is config'd for zero security, everything is on the same isolated subnet.
Cheers,
Regan

- aksVirtuosoDo you have an NV+ v1 or v2?
What is the full command line you are using?
Can you see all the file/folders from an ssh login, and check the ownership/permissions, i.e. "ls -al"
I just did this over the last few days migrating GBs from a Duo v1 to an NV+ v2 and it worked for all types of files (from XP, Win7, Vista, Mac and Linux). - regan1AspirantThanks for your reply.

Not sure what you mean by v1 or v2, but its one of the original silver units. Likely to be a v1, I had a RND4000, the power supply failed under warranty, I moved the drives into a new identical unit, the 2nd unit power supply failed also and I moved them back into the refurbished unit and its been years between these events so its quite old.aks wrote:

I don't have sshd set up on this ReadyNAS. I work with these files all the time between OS-X 10.8 and Windows8 I am pretty sure everything should be world read/write/execute, it seems systematic on a where the files came from basis, not the result of a bad umask. I only use "Guest" logins on the NAS, no security what so ever.
I'll dig a little further and report back with the exact rsync command in a few hours.
Regan - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserSilver is v1.
Likely your issue is permissions related. You can use the "advanced options" tab for the share in Frontview to reset owners and permissions. Did you try that?
Also, check that all the shares are enabled for rsync while you are there. - regan1AspirantI did play around with the ReadyNAS options a little but actually I think the problem seemed to be on the pull side rsync, ie what was pulling from the ReadyNAS, just bizarre behavior from this software. I've moved to something else which seems to be working.
