Shares within a Share
Hi all,
im really new to readynas and btrfs. My old NAS had a file structure
Media/Tv
Media/films
I had Media as one share
TV as another and Films as the final so I could direct into the folders and also go to the root higher level if needed.
Is it possible to have a share within another share? I havent been able to figure it out yet?
thanks

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserReadyNAS (all versions) don't let you create shares within shares from the web UI.
If you connect as admin, you can see the data volume (e.g., data\Media\films). That may be limited to CIFS.
So one option would be to create TV and films as shares, and use the admin password when accessing the NAS from windows. Perhaps try it with test shares first. - hawke84Tutorthank you great idea, didn't think of that. will give it a try.
- hawke84Tutorfor anyone else searching this, it doesnt work with SMB shares, cant connect directly with admin credentials, at least through windows.

You are totally wrong on that. You can absolutely do it.hawke84 wrote: for anyone else searching this, it doesnt work with SMB shares, cant connect directly with admin credentials, at least through windows.
Try closing all windows connections to the NAS and then opening a command box (e.g., enter "cmd" in the search bar under the windows icon).
Then enter
net use * /delete
net use t: \\nasname\C /user:admin adminpassword
Portions in italics are placeholders.
That should map the C volume to a t drive letter.
There are other ways (including entering the NAS credentials into the windows credential manager). - hawke84Tutornetwork path not found :?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf you try the IP address does anything change?
- hawke84Tutornope, no luck, still says error 53 network path not found. it does work when i do \\readynas\sharename but C doesnt work
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThis is an RN104? Sorry, the path was for OS4, not OS6.
Use \\readynas\data
If you changed the volume name, then use your volume name instead of "data". - hawke84Tutorworked like a charm. thank you :)
