Slow Speeds DUO RND2000 v1
Hi All,
I've got a ReadyNAS Duo (RND2000 v1) and am having major issues with the transfer speed and performance.
I have a Neatgear WNDR 4500 which connects my PC and ReadyNas together. I appear to access the ReadyNAS folders ok however when I try to copy any file from the NAS to me PC I'm lucky to get over 5MB/s. Worse yet is when I try to upload a file to the NAS from my PC, in this case I'm lucky to even get 100KB/s which makes uploading files almost useless.
I'm using that network cables that came with the router so I assume these would ok.
I don't have jumbo frames enabled as the router does not support it. My MTU is set to 1500 if that makes any difference. I've tried the performance guides but none of this has helped with the speeds. The upload speed is what really bothers me because I can't really get any up onto the NAS.
What type of speads should I be expecting from this device?
Thanks,
Luke

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt could be the NIC, or a setting in the PC or router. Just thinking that checking the cables is an easy thing to try first.
Though if you want to look at settings, make sure flow control is enabled on the PC. - DeadByDawnAspirantI've changed the cables with other 5e cables but still no luck with the upload speed. I might connect my laptop up via Ethernet on the same port my desktop uses and see if the issue is still there.

Sounds like the correct next stepDeadByDawn wrote: I've changed the cables with other 5e cables but still no luck with the upload speed. It's written on the cable what it is. Cat5 generally isn't good enough. They're useful for connecting 100Mbit devices to a network but that's about it.
- DeadByDawnAspirantI pulled out my network cables and found two listed as 5e, one was already connected to the NAS. Still had the slow upload on the desktop. Connected the desktop cable to the laptop and ran fine. Got around 8MB both ways, the port on the laptop is only 10/100.
Looks like the issue is with NIC. I plugged it into a different PCI slot just to see but made no difference. I might just pick up another card. Any recommendations? Might just get a netgear as everything else I have is netgear, the current card was an Asus.
I also did some tests uploading from desktop to laptop and it was slow so this issue has nothing to do with the NAS :) - DeadByDawnAspirantEnded up getting a get network card and looks like everything is now running ok :)
