Forget Netgear/ReadyNAS they haven't done anything with "Squeezecenter" for awhile - you need to deal with the Logitech folks on this. By the way the software is now called "Squeezebox Server" (SBS) and it's latest release is 7.6.1

Complete instructions for download and install available here:

    http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app ... a_id/12125

Just ignore the Squeezebox Duet mention in the article title - the write up is really about updating the SBS software on the NAS.

If you've been away from this for awhile you may be in for a world of hurt - lots of "potential" problems with the SBS software. You might want to check out the Squeeze forums before you do this.

  • Thanks Jim,

That sounds daunting! I usually run Squeezecenter (Squeezebox server - full circle since Slimdevices?) on a separate pc and have been keeping it up to date. I have a full range of players - the original Squeexebox, a Boom, a Touch and a Duet all on my network. But I like to keep the server updated on my ReadyNas too just in case I dispose of my pc server and use the ReadyNas for this instead. Kind of a fallback plan. So I might have faced already some of the problems - I hope!

Thanks again for the links... I shall investigate.

What a pity that Logitech and Netgear let drop the superb efforts of Infrant and Slim :-( The Logitech line-up of players now is rubbish - all devoted to radio. What a waste.

    Regards,

  • Oh and Jim, I've just realssed... the link you gave me to the Logitech site is the same as the one I asked about - it ends up back on the Netgear site. So I still can't find a download for the server addon for ReadyNas!

  • Ok - if I get click on that link I get the following - (When you get to the "mysqueezebox.com/download" page click on the dropdown to get a menu of different versions. Pick the one for NV/Duo - that's what you want for your NV+.)
    --------------------------------------------------------
    Download software:

    Download the following files:

Squeezebox Server for ReadyNAS from: http://www.mysqueezebox.com/download

NOTE: There are two variants - the Pro/NX and the NV/NV+/Duo. Make sure to select the correct version for your ReadyNAS.

RAIDiator for ReadyNAS from: http://www.readynas.com/download. This is the firmware for the ReadyNAS.

NOTE: There are two variants - the Pro/NX and the NV/NV+/Duo. Make sure to select the correct version for your ReadyNAS.

CleanSqueezeCenter which resets all Squeezebox Server settings to default.

    That's about all I can do -

  • Jim, thanks very much... I now see that I was misinterpreting the software links - the Netgear one being to the SqueezeCenter CLEANER and not the server software itself which was from the pull down list at Logitech.

I now have all I need and will give it a go. Wish me luck!

  • All went to plan. I keep two versions of all my music - one in mp3, the other Flac. The scan of my Flac seems to miss a few specific albums for some reason (it doesn't miss the mp3 versions) but that's a problem for another day!
  • I just went through this since It had been a long time since I updated this. First I had cleared the queezecenter once before. I had firmware 4.1.7. Today I updated to firmware 4.1.8. The update went fine, then I figured I update my squeeze center since it's a bit old. I just went a head and downloaded the nv file, went to the local tab and updated from there. I didn't even bother to uninstall the old one, I forgot. But it went fine. I didn't bother to run the cleaner either since I don't bother to make any other configurations. I did have to reboot after the update though. Now the server is scanning the library. It seems to take a bit longer than before though. I rescanned a few days ago with my old version and this new one is taking a bit longer, but it's the first time so we'll see. Well it finally finished but I still couldn't play anything from the screen. I just turned on the slimdevice and everything works again. Go figure.
