the volume data is damaged

Happy Easter to all!

I had one hard disk failure on my Readynas Ultra 2 (while on Raid 0).
I have formatted both hard disks, sent back the fault one, intalled the lates OS 6.X firmware, rebuilt my database on the the good HD using X-Raid configuration.
Now I have received the 'new' hard disk (Red 3 TB WD) and after checking it with a PC, I have inserted in the 2nd bay, with the Readynas off.

This is what happened after I have turn it back one (translated):

Sun Apr 5 2015 12:05:55
Disco: Lo stato del disco nel canale '2' (Internal) è passato da RESYNC a ONLINE. (Status of Disk on Ch 2 from Resynch to Online)
Sun Apr 5 2015 12:05:48
Volume: L'operazione di ricostruzione è terminata sul volume 'data'. Tuttavia, il volume è ancora danneggiato. (Resynch completed, but volume still damaged')
Sun Apr 5 2015 11:43:39
Volume: Ricostruzione avviata per il volume 'data'. (Reconstruction started for volume 'data')
Sun Apr 5 2015 11:43:25 Volume: Il volume 'data' è 'Degraded'. (volume 'data' is 'degrated')
Sun Apr 5 2015 9:14:16
Volume: Lo stato del volume 'data' è passato da 'Unprotected' a 'Degraded'. (Status of volume 'data' from 'Unprotected' to 'degraded')
Sun Apr 5 2015 9:12:50
Volume: Ricostruzione avviata per il volume 'data'. (Reconstruction of volume 'data' started)

Now the system show "the volume data is damaged".
What can I do? What I did wrong?
Thank you in advance!

RAID-1 and backing up your data e.g. to a USB disk is the way to go.

Anyway, your reply make sense but put me in a worried state...
So why should I bother to set my NAS in Raid 1?
RAID-1 makes the data more available when a disk fails. That is, in almost all cases your data remains fully accessible when you replace the disk. For many people that is an important aspect.

It lowers the odds of data loss, but the odds are still high enough that you do need backups.

If you decide RAID-1 isn't needed, then I'd suggest jbod (two volumes). RAID-0 is fragile - when either disk fails you lose everything in the volume.

Lots of people here use external HD for backup. I use another NAS myself. It is wise to have a backup in a format that is easily read on your other device.
