TiVo(s) can not "see" ReadyNAS

OK – I have read the forums and scoured the Internet to no avail, so I am imposing on this group for assistance. I received a ReadyNAS Ultra 4 for Christmas, and have yet to get it to work with my TiVo 3 or any of my TiVo premiers. I have uploaded the latest Firmware, and reverted back to the one that came with the unit, and upgraded again. I have reloaded the OS, and I have completely rebuilt the unit from the Factory Defaults – TWICE ! ! I have contacted NetGear Support, multiple times, with escalation - No Joy! ! !

Here are the symptoms:
- The ReadyNAS will activate the TiVo’s
- The ReadyNAS will auto download all “Keep until I delete” files [though with an additional “*.nfo” file as well]
- The TiVo(s) WILL “see” the ReadyNAS ONLY while it is manually forced into a “Rescan Media Files” operation. During this time, the TiVo can access any of the files saved on the ReadyNAS, and even display Photos and play music in the “ShowCase” area of TiVo, but stops as soon as the rescan is complete.

My last attempt was to Install the “ReadyDLNA Update Addons [Updated: 2012/07/13].

I really can not think of anything else to do, and would appreciate any assistance that anyone could provide.

Many Thanks and Season’s Greetings to all

  • Hello de niro - yes - actually, I installed "http://www.readynas.com/download/addons/x86/4.2/ReadyTiVo_1.3.9-x86.bin" - Still NO JOY. The TiVo contiues to be backed-up tp the ReadyNAS, but none of the programs, nor the ReadyNAS itself, appears on the TiVo's menu. I performed a Factory Default just this past Friday, kept the default settings [except for the TiVo DNLA settings], and only activated one TiVo to keep things as simple as possible.

I could just take an older system and build a Linux box, but it is getting to me a matter of principle now
  • Well, after tearing my network apart, and buying a new WNDR-3800 AND a new GS108T-200 switch, I have isolated the problem to an incompatibility between the ReadyNAS and OLDER TiVo's. As soon as you add a TiVo Series-1 OR TiVo Series-2, the ReadyNAS TiVo services fail. It has worked great for weeks as long as I only use the Series-3 and Series-4 TiVo on the network.
