Two out of four disks dead (probably)
Hi.
When I tried to access my ReadyNAS 104 earlier this evening I got an error message that it was not available. On the LCD display it said something like "DATA Dead". I rebooted the NAS but it made no difference. I moved all the disks to the other 104 I have and booted but this also made no difference.
I went to the logfile. By examening it (see below, in Swedish I am afraid) I draw the conclusion that two disks failed roughly 30 minutes apart. At 01:41:00 disk 1 failed, at 02:16:49 disk 2 failed. At 02:22:43 the volume changed from Redundant to Dead.
Given that two disks are labled as dead, is there any hope of retreiving the data stored on the NAS? How would I go about it?

Firmware was 6.9.3 but during the reboot 6.9.4 was installed. Model is ReadyNas 104 (RN10400). I use the NAS in a Windows 7 environment.

Since you had multiple disk failures probability of recovering the data is more likely none but It might still be possible to do so by cloning the drives if it still is operational or by using Data recovery services.
You can always contact NETGEAR Support on this kind of issues though Data Recovery service has a charge and again, there might be small to none possibility of recovery due to the disk failures you had.
Using ReCLAIMe or other recovery software might help as well but some of them you have to purchase as well.
I would still recommend to try and contact Support to check on this issue and I hope you have a good copy of your data stored on a different disk/device.
