Ultra 2, can't change any configuration, #20458063
Hi,
Weird thing has just happened to my ultra 2 which as got me quite worried. Suddenly all of my CIFS, NFS and https protocols are disabled in the standard file protocols page and if I attempt to enable them it looks as though it attempts to, but then returns to the page with them disabled. The same issue applies to all other settings. I also had root ssh enabled but now if I attempt to ssh I get connection refused.
Any ideas what is going on?
Prior to this happening I was attempting to figure out why I couldn't save a word doc or open certain text files from a windows machine (fine using NFS in linux). But I don't think I made any meaningful changes during this process.
Help desperately appreciated.
Thanks
Lionel

- Lionelv00AspirantSelecting data didn't work, but tech support got back to me and .... said to do an OS re-install. Will post results in about 10 hours time :).
- Lionelv00AspirantWell, OS re-install didn't work at all :(. Back to techsupport.
- Lionelv00AspirantNow they've requested a screenshot. Done. Then they requested to select CIFS and AFP, done, returns to screen with them unselected. Then they requested a different browser (was using Chromium mainly and that's what I did the screenshots from, but I've used Firefox and IE already to rule that out), so to tick that off for them, used firefox (10.0.5), same result.
Sigh, I wonder if using a different browser has ever solved an issue like this. - chirpaLuminarySounds like they think it is the 'Hide Share' option under CIFS, which adds a $ to the share name, and disabled other protocols. That is per-share, but your post sounded like anything in FrontView setting wise didn't work, not just specific share settings?
- a_burger_with_fAspirantit does sound like the os parition is full an os reinstall wont do, youll have
to have tech support go in via telnet and see what is filling up the OS partition
if it is full it wont allow you to make changes

There are no logs, I can't change any settings at all, uTorrent appears to run when I ask it but I can't access the UI, root ssh has been disabled, etc. The only thing that works is viewing status of the various things such as hdd and system health.
I can still access my shares using https and also using webdav. - chirpaLuminaryuTorrent, that also leads me to think root full. Have tech support looked at it remotely yet?
- Lionelv00AspirantThis is a reply to both chirpa and a_burga_with_fries, and thanks for the help to both of you.
They haven't looked at it remotely yet, I'm betting that is going to be the next request.
Where does uTorrent store files by default? I have not yet configured the save location of uTorrent and did download something quite large (I did wonder about this). If this goes into root partition by default then that is terrible design.
If only I could get into it myself I'm sure I could easily find out if this is the case. I'm betting I can (I assume it would be boot into tech support mode then telnet in, unless telnet is enabled anyway without booting into tech support) but not sure if I'm allowed or if they will stop giving me support. - chirpaLuminaryIt would be boot into Tech Support mode. You will then see a five digit ID via RAIDar info field you can pass to the agent. This will let them connect into the system remotely. It doesn't require opening port forwards, it phones home to their secure server in this special boot mode.
- Lionelv00AspirantOK, thanks for that information. I guess I'll have to wait for them to suggest it, don't want to be a pushy know it all :) - for now, give them fair chance :), in all fairness they have been good with the contact.
Just as I finished writing the above the representative called me again and said that the case is being elevated.
