Unable to connect to Admin Page on RN2120 after firmware 6.7.5 upgrade
Hello all,
I have a NetGear ReadyNAS 2120 which has never missed a beat until last week when I upgraded the firmware to 6.7.5 (latest).
The unit rebooted as normal however after I was unable to connect to the IP address (Static IP 192.168.1.210).
I have twice tried to reinstall the OS from the front panel and in both cases I can see the unit in RAIDar for a minute of two and then fanishes again.
Any suggestions? Should I try removing the HDDs then seeing if I can get the unit up?
Cheers, Chris.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAre you only losing the web ui? Or are you losing access to the shares also?

The NAS has vanished off my network.
IP no longers responding, RAIDar shows no NetGear NAS, its like the unit isn't even there.

Then powering down, removing the drives (labeling by slot) and powering up is a reasonable next step. If the chassis is working, you should get a "no disks" status from RAIDar.
You could also run a memory test from the boot menu (see page 13 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RN2120/ReadyNAS_OS_6_Rackmount_HW_UM_10Dec2014.pdf )
While the disks are out, you could also connect them to a windows PC (usb is ok) and run the vendor diags (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital).

Hello!
Some progress has been made ... I think DISK 3 is buggered.
I have plugged it in to my laptop and run Lifeguard and the SMART Status is showing as FAIL. Looking at the SMART Drive INformation I have crosses next to Raw Read Error Rate and Reallocated Sector Count.
I have tried to do a QUICK TEST of the drive and get a communication error so I'm going with the drive made well be totally knackered.
I've been able to kick off an EXTENDED TEST which is running nice and fast then wen suport slow after 20 seconds. Its not been running for 1 minute and saying 400+ hours to finish - Thats 16 days! At the timer is still climbing.
I'm going to try and do an RMA with NetGear but not hopeful as I registered it when I got the unit but never uploaded the receipt and getting that will be fun (Now showing 800+ hours to finish).
Can I fire up the NAS with this drive out and let it run on three to test everything is ok or should I get a new drive first?
Cheers, Chris.

You should be able to boot up the unit with three working disks (assuming XRAID or a flexraid mode with redundancy).
Your data is of course not protected until you replace the failed one.
Was the drive provided by Netgear? Or are the RMA comments about the NAS itself?

Also updated to this version of the OS and have the same lack of connection to the admin page. Still can access the shares and (hopefully) all the files on them via a mapping to the fixed IP but no browser, telnet or SSH access can be made.
Display panel correctly shows correct (fixed IP) on start-up 192.168... but before any access can be attempted flicks to a random 169.254.. .one. Tried a direct connection via crossover cable but attempting to use IP address in either range is met with the same response as when connected via router.
Could login before firmware update, wishing I done my monthly off-line backups before accepting the firm patch!
