- dsm1212ApprenticeCan you describe in more detail what you are doing? There are so many possibilities with what you said I don't think we can form a coherent response. Are you using a windows unrar program and opening a .rar file and trying to send the extracted output to a share on the nas? How did you mount the share? Did you create a user on the NAS and connect to the share using that user name? I may be way off the mark, hence the need for more details :-).
steve - kiiildenAspirantI got a network drive called Z.
Z drive is my nas server, i use transmission as torrent client, so i download some movies i would like to see on my ipad via xbmc,. There is some problems on my ipad so i cannot play videos trough rar files, so i would like to try and unpack the movie to see if it works. So i open my Z drive, find the movie, try to unpack it with winrar ( indtalled on my windows pc ) but i dont get permission to do it. I can unpack to my windows desktop. But its like a dont permission to write on nas. Ived try to open the browse trough radiator, that didnt work either. I hope you understand what i say. Im not perfect in english :-) - dsm1212ApprenticeOk, so you need to use frontview to create a user and grant that user read/write access to a share. Then when you map the z: drive on your pc you will use that user name and password to connect to the share. If you are in your home environment and your PC has a username and password you can set the frontview username and password to the same values as you are using to log into windows and the share will connect automatically with that user. What is probably happening to you is that you are mapping a share that is read-only for everyone so you have no write access. If you don't know how to get to Frontview (web interface for the NAS) you probably should start with a copy of the software manual.
