Wake on Lan and Link Aggregation?
Hi all
I'm a bit of a networking novice so maybe this can't be done in the first place? Trying to find out if waking a Pro can be done by magic packet when using link aggregation?
Have tested it successfully without link aggregation so I know the magic packet is fine. Then tried 802.3ad LACP but NAS would not wake. Thinking this might be because of the dynamic link with the ports no longer active members when the NAS is powered down, I switched over to static link aggregation on the switch with xor teaming on the NAS. Still not able to wake. In both cases, the switch reports both ports are still active at 100M when the NAS is powered down.
Using a cisco sg300 switch. Not sure if there is a problem with it or maybe the NAS just isn't designed to work this way? Any advice appreciated.

I've had mixed results with WoL and LACP. My findings are that the switch makes the difference.
With my Netgear GS724Tv3, WoL and LACP works no problem. But with the HP Procurve 1810g-24, the NAS won't wake. If I disable LACP, the NAS wakes with no issues.
Like you said, it must be the way the switch is handling the ports (and bond) when the NAS is powered down (active or inactive).

Glad to see I'm not the only one to experience this. Think my next step is probably cisco support to see if this is how they expect the switch to work.
